Red Vines
03:38
|
|||
She likes Red Vines in the nighttime
Under stars that shine in the sky
Red Vines and birds that sing in the springtime
On branches in the wind, it’s easy to see how love can set you free
Daniel’s in the lion’s den with a notebook and a pen
Hear the bass, hear the drum, feel the earth going around the sun
Hey, did you hear the news? Five more years of singing the blues
After that, it’s going to get crazy
Hey, did you settle the score or are you going back for more?
Either way, its going to get crazy
It’s lovely to see you my friend, it’s lovely to see you again
It’s lovely to see you my friend, it’s lovely to see you again

Candy Girl
02:50
|
|||
Her name was Candy, Candy Girl
Her name was Candy, Candy Girl
Peppermint perfume, juju eyebrows
Chocolate nostrils, lollipop earlobes
Her name was Candy, Candy Girl
Candy, Candy, Candy, my Candy Girl
She’s late, she’s late for a very important day
She hates, she hates the feeling of being late
Stuck in slow motion tied to a weight
Like a salmon swimming upstream to their fate
Going home now, on my way
Going home yeah, on my way
Buttery fingers, taffy toenails
Bon bon belly, slurpie kisses
Her name was Candy, Candy Girl
Candy, Candy, Candy, my Candy girl

The Great Transformation
02:53
|
|||
Brother what’s going on
Sister talk of the town
Children out on the streets
On the eve of revolution
It’s the great transformation
The great transformation
Mental liberation
Cultural rejuvenation
The great transformation
A fantastic revelation
A point of exclamation
The great transformation
The great transformation
The end of dark ages
Cultural rejuvenation
The great transformation

Three Rules
02:20
|
|||
If you want to climb the big wall
There are three rules you need to know
Rule one, expect to fail
Rule two, take it a pitch at a time
Rule three, don’t give up
These rules are simple, they’re kind of Zen
If you think about them, they’ll make sense
Rule one, expect to fail
Rule two, take it a pitch at a time
Rule three, don’t give up
So there you have it, the three rules
Now go ahead and climb a big wall
Like Mescalito, The Grand Voyage, the Porter Route on Mt Aasgard!
Rule one, expect to fail
Rule two, take it a pitch at a time
Rule three, don’t give up

Harder

Harder
I was out on a fitness walk the other day
Heading up E Roy my breath went away
My heart started pounding & my legs began to sway
I reflected on all those mountains I’ve climbed back in the day
And thought to myself
This never gets easier. It just gets harder. X2
Was riding my Ripley up Ollalie today
The ups keep on coming but you peddle anyway
My legs were burning with sweat running in my eye
I was Heading up to ride down
the other side
And you know It never gets easier but it sure seems to get harder. You know what I’m saying?
Hiking up Mailbox another time
One foot in front of the other & poles to help my stride
A mountain goat was near the top giving me the evil eye.
I Thought of the goat in the Olympics who stuck a guy in the Thigh
I Made sure that goat didn’t try to buck me
Once again I got lucky
And glad to have
another day outside
But those ups never gets easier. They just keep getting harder.
That’s no excuse for not getting off the couch for a starter.
I try to keep my fitness and youth but now I understand
as Ken Crockett Scottish climber said to me as a younger man
Or Warren Miller said about skiing that line this year
If you don’t you’ll be a year older if you do. Their point-
It not going to get easier but it sure can get harder - that’s what They’re saying!
Now I know it never get’s easier but you’ve got to keep trying.
So when your younger get after it everyday
Understand your elders aren’t standing in your way
Just give a little respect because if your lucky You’ll understand what I have to say
You’ll also learn as we did the hard way
Its not gonna get easier and it will get harder
It never gets easier but it sure can get harder
But you’ve got to keep trying for a starter
It never gets easier it just keeps getting harder

Just Once
02:27
|
|||
Just once I want to find out. Just once find out what it’s all about
Just once, maybe twice, I’m going to let go of the wheel and roll the dice
Feel so good so free so high, moving like an animal
Transcending conscious thought, at one with the world
Just once I want to find out. Just once find out what it’s all about
Just once, maybe twice, I’m going to let go of the wheel and roll the dice
Feel so good so free so high, moving like an animal
Transcending conscious thought, at one with the world

Silverface Amps
03:40
|
|||
I always remember this image of us going to that music store
Where you got your Fender acoustic and Sally got her bass.
There were a bunch of shiny new Silverface amps
The Champ, the Princeton, and the Twin Reverb
It was a sunny day and the Silverface amps
Sparkled in the sun. I remember that day so well
Later in the evening back at Cherry Street to jam
Plug our guitars into your Silverface amp
We play old Stones songs that we know by heart
And write a song to change the world
It was a sunny day and the Silverface amps
Sparkled in the sun. I remember that day so well
Morning at the Old Town where you can see the bay
Anything is possible at this time of the day
From the stereo speakers of their JVC
The Sultans of Swing are speaking to me.
It was a sunny day and the Silverface amps
Sparkled in the sun. I remember that day so well
It was a sunny day and the Silverface amps
Sparkled in the sun. I remember that day so well

The Searcher
03:02
|
|||
The whole world was upside down when I decided what to do
Find a far away universe and search for a sign of life
I’m the searcher, I’m the searcher, searching for signs of life
Signs of life in the dead of night, I’m the searcher looking for life
Travelling at the speed of light, I’m the searcher with fog headlights
Made it through the Kuiper belt, I’m the searcher aiming for Earth
Coming down fast but I feel alright, I’m the searcher
So off I go in search of a green and blue planet
With mountains, oceans, and rivers and people of the future
I’m the searcher, I’m the searcher, searching for signs of life
Signs of life in the dead of night, I’m the searcher looking for life
Travelling at the speed of light, I’m the searcher with fog headlights
Made it through the Kuiper belt, I’m the searcher aiming for Earth
Coming down fast but I feel alright, I’m the searcher

The Mayor of Skid Road
03:40
|
|||
Doc from the drugstore on Occidental and Main
Alberta Bill and the Man Who Knew Everything
Chief Yellow Lark, who wasn’t really a chief
They’re all running for the same thing
To be the mayor of Skid Road
Of Skid Road
Fire Chief Fitzgerald and Police Chief Seeing Eye
Who sports a black eye mask and a Sherlock Holmes cap
They were both at the inauguration day ball
Because Doc was the man who now ran it all
He was the mayor of Skid Road
Of Skid Road
Business is good if you pay Doc his vig
The men stay drunk and the girls are sweet
Harry Truman dropped the bomb
But everything’s going to be alright
We have a mayor of Skid Road
Of Skid Road, of Skid Road, of Skid Road, of Skid Road

Follow Me
03:05
|
|||
Figures on a landscape, handwriting on the wall
Thought by now I’d seen it all
Then I saw your picture in a magazine
And larger than life on the movie screen
Follow me, adore me, dice me up and swallow me
Search for me, look for me, hunt me down and capture me
Handholds are crumbling, hanging on with useless arms
Waves are crashing on the rocks below, life hangs precariously
Follow me, coddle me, wrap me up and swaddle me
Be my friend until the end, start me up, do it again
Follow me, adore me, dice me up and swallow me
Search for me, look for me, hunt me down and capture me
